Love, 40

Every point is a small argument with yourself.

Tennis is the loneliest team sport there is. No one to pass to, no clock to hide behind, just you, the net, and the voice in your head deciding what the last point meant. I’ve learned more from losing a close one than from any easy win. Composure isn’t the absence of nerves. It’s serving anyway.
